Ed Clancy maintains JLT Condor’s four year unbeaten record at the London Nocturne
The City of London played host to the capital’s premier cycling event, the London Nocturne on Saturday 9 June. The event, which was co-founded by Condor Cycles has run consecutively since 2007. The event which features food, drink and hair-raising bike races, started with the silly but fun Concours D’Elegance (in which amateur entrants are judged on their outfits) and culminated in the nighttime Elite Criterium Race, featuring some of the UK’s top professionals.
As darkness descended and tension built the crowds on London’s Cheapside were treated to an action packed race which saw Ed Clancy sprint to victory ahead of Team Wiggin’s young star Tom Pidcock and George Wood.
Clancy’s win is his second in the Nocturne, Ed took victory in 2015, when the race used a former circuit around the Smithfield Meat Market.
Speaking after the win, Ed Clancy explained the race was much for than an urban criterium, “I had another brilliant time at the MR PORTER Nocturne London this year. It’s such a great day and evening, with all kinds of cycling celebrated, from penny farthings to pros – which is really special and unique.
To get the win was of course the icing on the cake – the night time race, the city centre backdrop, with my team against a great field is always a fantastic experience!”
