JLT Condor’s under 23 rider, Harry Tanfield battled strong competition and tough terrain to finish 3rd in the CiCLE Classic. The UCI 1.2 race part of the Europe Tour features historic farm track, gravel sectors and steep ascents over a 180km course.
The race saw a number of small skirmishes from the front of the bunch but the peloton were never keen on the combination of riders and escapees were soon reeled back in. Into the final five kilometres of the race and an attack from JLT Condor p/b Mavic rider, Richard Handley saw him joined by a rider from the Belgian team 3M but the bunch stayed ever vigilant and brought the dangerous attack under control, ensuring the stage was set for a large bunch sprint into the town of historic town of Melton Mowbray.
Former Garmin Sharp rider, Steele von Hoff took the honours, and Chris Opie pipped young Tanfield.
Harry Tanfield was also first under 23 rider across the finish line.
The twenty year old, Harry Tanfield, is new recruit to the JLT Condor squad for the 2015 season. He joined the team under the on-going development plan of young riders, set out by Team Manager, John Herety.
Herety explained he was pleased to see the youngster performances be rewarded.
“Harry has been progressing well. He had some tough racing in Normandie, it was the longest race he’s ever ridden. It is a steep learning curve and has used the experience to place himself well against more seasoned sprinting opposition and finish with a podium position.”
