Strong start to 2015 for JLT Condor

JLT Condor enjoyed a strong start to 2015, with Joe Moses, Kristian House and Ed Clancy all scoring superb results for the Men In Black this weekend.
Resplendent in their new livery, most of the team began the season in Australia at the Mitchleton Bay Classic, a four stage event which features one hour criteriums around the Bay Area in Victoria.
In the elite race, Pro-Tour outfit, Orica GreenEdge, brought a strong line up to the event and set out to control the racing keeping the pace high, shattering the field and ensuring a sprint would end with their new star Caleb Ewan at the sharp end of the field.
While temperatures rose to a stifling forty degrees on day one and two, seasoned rider, Kristian House, was able to keep a cool head through the demanding series, finishing each day inside the top ten. John Herety drew several positives from the team’s opening performance:
“The heat and strong winds added another dimension to the racing and Orica GreenEdge showed they had the firepower to dictate the race. Felix was strong here last year but will need to work on his form after injury stunted the end of season. It is early in the year but the process will continue as these riders develop, and I expect a lot more from them in the future.”

Herety was keen to take advantage of all the racing available and fielded a team in the John Cornish Memorial Support Races at the Bay Classic.
“Luke placed a solid 7th on the opening day and Joe finished 3rd on day three. Joe raced with his head and legs and I’m glad to see he was rewarded with a trip to the podium.”
On the final day of the racing, Joe Moses broke free from the peloton and enjoyed some time off the front. Joe’s trip to the podium on the previous day meant they were wary of the Yorkshireman and sensing danger reeled him in on the final laps. Luke Mellor finished in 6th and Moses in 9th on day 4.

Sensational start for Clancy

Back in Britain Ed Clancy opened his 2015 with a hat-trick of race wins at the Manchester Velodrome in the Revolution series.

A sell-out crowd saw Clancy take a masterful victory in the scratch race, longest lap and Madison time trial setting a blistering time of 54.778 with team mate Ollie Wood. Wood also won the flying lap giving the team overall victory on the night.
I’m pleased to get 2015 off to a winning start for JLT Condor” commented Ed Clancy.

The flurry of race victories moves JLT Condor into 4th ahead of Team Sky in 5th and reduces the advantage of series leaders Maloja Pushbikers to 8 points, putting JLT Condor within reach of the overall series win.
TV highlights of round 3 will be shown on Channel 4 on Saturday 10 January at 7am (GMT) and then will be available to view online on 4oD.

The Australian contingent of JLT Condor will remain down under until mid-February. Their next race is the Jayco Herald Sun Tour.
